Chloé FALL 2020

The Chloé Fall 2020 collection designed by Natacha Ramsay Levi perpetuates AN urban softness – a grounded, ladylike silhouette with elemental details in a woody and mineral palette from chestnut, straw and apricot to moss and deep navy. Polished notes of bourgeois sophistication create complex feminine characters, in a contemporary homage to the heroines of the nouvelle vague ERA. French and British traditions abound, as tonal layering dictates a wardrobe of relaxed new classics – tactile separates that mix-and-match urban and country proportions in knotted and fluid volumes.

In a sophisticated call-and-repeat of romantic tailoring and polished accessories, the natural texture of brushed tweeds and humble cotton infuses hallmark Chloé pieces with an understated elegance. Crêpe dresses and blouses are traced with finery: flowery lacework collars, petal shapes and geometric cord embroideries, whilst all-over micro floral prints are smocked and draped in long-sleeve dresses and a button-down house coat. Morning stripe and micro-check wool tailoring is thrown over ticking stripe scarf blouses, slinky ribbed knits and wide fluid pants, as trench-style and chain belts distinguish the softly cinched waistline on pleated skirts in mini, mid-length and ankle-length skirts. Toughening the silhouette, utility trousers and city shorts in sartorial fabrics are worn slouchy with delicate ruffled blouses, and the boyish shapes of boxy outerwear are re-imagined in soft shearling and washed leather.

Bold jewels and hardware accent the collection’s matte textures with subtle shine, from ‘Femininities’ coin necklaces to tooth-shaped pendants, relic earrings and matching hammered cuffs. Round-toe riding boots are worn flat, laced and buckled or raised on a high block heel, both finished in rich shades of glossy burnished leather.
